In the Mediterranean & tropical regions it is quite feasible to construct an intelligent house with the 25 cm Styrostone without an external energy source for heating . However, that is of course not enough for colder places like Great Britain or Ireland.For the very cold climate, more insulation in the walls is necessary and for that reason Styro Stone has developed the Super RR (35 cm with Neopor) that has an U-value of 0.14. However, in some cases, even that is not enough
The problem to solve was the difficulty in the handling of Styro Stones with a breadth of more than 35 cm. The castellations of the styro stones have to fit tightly. The wider the insulation layer, the more difficult it becomes to lay the Styro Stones, demanding increased force to connect the following courses.
